We had this game when I was kid. Pretty cool and definitely a little "alt." You have to use the X and Y knobs to control how the ball rolls through the "labyrinth," avoiding the holes to get to the end. Obviously, the hard part was not trying to find your way out of the "maze" but rather to get through it without falling into the holes.

Someone figured out that you could "flip the ball over the wall at a certain point to quickly advance your game, but we will not speak of that here. With some of the sections, you could "lean" up against a wall to stay tight and get around the holes. But for the hardest parts you needed to go right between two holes. Out in the open.
There are a couple of places on the ride into work in the morning that always make me think of this game. Riding between two well placed potholes. The path is about two tire-widths wide, so you have half a tire width to spare on either side. It's just two holes next to each other, so it is not the long sequence of frustration that this game could be, but still, it always reminds of this "threading the needle."
ps: My brother got bored after he learned to do it, so he taught himself to do it again...with his feet! Yes, we were quite the interesting family....
