So I’ll spare you more of the “push uphill, ripping fun
downhills” as that’s pretty much how the rest of the week went. Just a couple of stray observations...
But as we headed over Mt Guyot, and reached the Continental
Divide, at the top is a bunch of folks who are doing a “Skittle handup.” Handling
out a little candy to lift the spirits!

And a couple of days later, as I was on a switchback or two
from the top of Wheeler Pass on the Ten Mile Range, there was the VERY strong
scent of hickory smoked bacon wafting down from the just-out-of-sight top!
Turns out that a couple of different folks were cooking bacon and doing a
“bacon handup” to the racers. Again,
this is just a sample of the “seriousness” of this race. The race with no cash prizes, where folks
hand tubes, tools and tires to others in need on the course. Where folks take care of each other in the
backcountry.

So I guess it turns out we had a pretty good household

Mary and Rebecca did a truly amazing job since they traded
the lead EVERY day of the week with another team. On Friday they were a minute and a half behind the other team, but in the end, after 250
miles of racing over 6 days, they won by just a tad over 6 minutes. That is some exciting racing!
Here's what Rebecca was eating for breakfast (though this is a double portion on a day when her hubby was visiting.)
Here's part of my breakfast. The melon was perfect!

Will I be back there next year?
Stay tuned...
