It's an old joke in my family. I'll save the punchline for another day for those who don't yet know it.

I think it takes more than a modicum of self-importance to undertake this sort of thing, but now that my parents are on the Information Superhighway, perhaps this can serve as a means of staying in touch with family and friends in a way that email simply doesn't permit.

Of course, there is nothing stoppping me from putting old fashioned pen to paper, but the price of nibs has sky-rocketed of late.
