Well, it's been just about a week of construction. More importantly, it's been just about a week without a kitchen or a sink. Trying to navigate the microwave, er the "prepared foods" section of the supermarket. Though having the fridge around helps. My mother's stories from visiting her grandmother in NY during the summer are still pretty vivid. The block ice slowly melting in the icebox during the hot summer, dripping into the basement where the kids can touch and play with the cold melt water...I've got an icepick (now packed away somewhere) with Knickerbocker Ice Co. on the handle.

Had to drop the bike off at the shop tonight. The old grove, which I have been using for most of my training rides finally needed a new drivetrain after...how many years? I really can't begrudge it a new chain and some new cogs. Though being in the middle of a firm downward peddle stroke when you find out that it needs some new cogs is not a log of fun. Fortunately the bruises are only on my knees.

Still taking the long view of training for Breck, though it is fast approaching, as is Rocktoberfest. How many weeks? Gotta love RBWinter.

(Hey, don't let the beautiful scene fool you, it is a brutal place after how many hours in the saddle!)
