In the beginning there was just the the dust and the dirt...then there was the wooden lathe and more dust...then there were the exposed guts of the walls accompanied by more plaster dust...then they took out the original chimney which was hidden from view since 1889 and that brought forth more dust...and now, finally, you can see a little glimpse of what is to come...
This is my favorite. Where they just decided that they needed some wires so they just drill through a stud or a beam or a joist, doesn't matter, it's all just wood! Eek!
It's a whole lot of plaster, especially when about half of it squishes between the lathe and ends up onthe backside of the wall...whoever thought of sticking this stuff to the cieling was a nut case! And this stuff is the real thing, complete with horsehair to increase the structural integrity!
